    Spirit & Pep Commissioner (2)

    DEFINITION:  The Spirit & Pep Commissioner’s job is to organize, plan, and run all rallies (Welcome Back Rally, Homecoming Rally, Winter Sports Rally, and Spring Sports Rally).

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.              Plan and organize all Rallies, ensuring maximum school participation.

    2.              Emcee rallies, including leading cheers.  May plan for others to M.C.

    3.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    4.              Coordinate lunch time activities and spirit weeks, prizes, etc. for all ASB events

    5.              Assist with all technical and electronic needs for any ASB event.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1.              Maintain a grade point average of 2.5 for each grading period from time of petitioning for the job until your final grading period.

    2.              Maintain eligibility according to district eligibility rules.

    3.              Enroll in Leadership Class.

    4.              Extra time available before and after school.

     

    PERSONAL QUALITIES:

    1.                  Must know how to have fun and put of an entertaining event.

    2.                  Must have the ability to be happy and energetic at the drop of a dime.

    3.                  Must work well with people.

    Athletic Commissioner

     

    DEFINITION:  The Student Body Athletic Commissioner is the person responsible for representing the Athletic Department to the A.S.B. Student Council.  They are responsible for maintaining all athletic lettering records and making all lettering certificates for all three athletic seasons.  They are also responsible for maintaining the supplies of blocks and emblems accordingly for the end of the season awards events.  It is also the responsibility of the Athletic Commissioner to assist the school’s athletic director on maintaining accurate and up-to-date awards that are displayed in the gym, locker-rooms, and other places on campus.

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.              Serve as the primary Athletic Department liaison to the A.S.B. Student Council.

    2.              Responsible for daily reports/updates of athletic events and setting up mandatory attendance games for ASB.

    3.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    4.              Use and maintain working notebook.

    5.              Use and maintain master notebook.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1.              Maintain a grade point average of 2.5 for each grading period from time of petitioning for the job until your final grading period.

    2.              Maintain eligibility according to district eligibility rules.

    3.              Enroll in Leadership Class.

    4.              Extra time available before and after school, lunch, nights and weekends.

     

    PERSONAL QUALITIES:

    1.                  Must be a good student role model.

    3.                  Must be able to communicate effectively with others (peers and adults).

    4.                  Must be able to manage time well and have time outside of leadership class.

    5.                  Athletic experience and active participation are helpful, but not required.


     

    Elections Commissioner (2)

     

    DEFINITION: The Elections Commissioner’s main job includes recruiting suitable leaders to run or petition for Student Council. Although the Elections Commissioner does work considerably with others students, they are mainly dependent upon themselves in performing their duties.

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.              Plans, coordinates, and referees Freshman Elections.  Must find candidates and assist them in their campaigns.

    2.              Organizes the process for nominating Homecoming and Prom.

    3.              Organize the annual A.S.B. Search several weeks in advance of A.S.B. Elections.  The purpose of the Search is to find and develop student’ interests in all the positions on Student Council.

    4.              Serve as Chairperson of the Elections Committee.  This committee consists of several underclassmen that assist the Elections Commissioner in planning and implementing the Elections Commissioner’s many duties especially setting up and cleaning up.

    5.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    6.              Use and maintain working notebook.

    7.              Use and maintain master notebook.

    8.              Must understand that all information regarding any election process is completely confidential.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1.              Maintain a grade point average of 3.0 for each grading period from time of petitioning for the job until your final grading period.

    2.              Maintain eligibility according to district eligibility rules.

    3.              Enroll in Leadership Class.

    4.              Extra time available before and after school.

    Publicity Commissioner

     

    DEFINITION: The Associated Student Body Publicity Commissioner is responsible for increasing school spirit through communication.  Through publicizing school events, they can create an atmosphere that the students can feel pride in their school.  It is the job of the commissioner to oversee and implement the following: 1) bulletin board displays, 2) clipped and displayed newspaper articles, 3) daily bulletin notices, 4) poster and butcher paper signs, 5) flyers and handouts, etc.....

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.              Responsible for all publicity for all events, regardless of grade level, at Segerstrom Fundamental High School, this includes but is not limited to posters, videos, newsletters, etc.

    2.              Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the name plaques used at the Student Council business meetings.

    3.              Responsible for the ordering of all publicity supplies, including paint, butcher paper, brushes, etc.

    4.              Responsible for helping update the school marquee.

    5.              Responsible for sports bulletin board display.

    6.              Help with tech equipment and help ensure that speakers and music are ready to go for ASB events. 

    7.              Serve as an observer at the Representative Assembly Meeting.

    8.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    9.              Use and maintain working notebook.

    10.          Use and maintain master notebook.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Historian

    DEFINITION: The ASB Historian is responsible for keeping a record of all activities and events that the ASB is a part of. The Historian works to keep a digital history and scrapbook for ASB as well as helping with other technical aspects of the events that are organized by the ASB. This person will work with the Commissioner of Publicity to promote ASB and their work.

     

    DUTIES:

    1.              Run/supervise the stereo at all school functions where it is requested.

    2.              Responsible for the maintaining all equipment owned by A.S.B. and the music library.

    3.              Responsible for updating the equipment and the music library.

    4.              Supervise the scheduling of the usage of the stereo

    5.              Oversee the set-up and take down of the stereo equipment.

    6.              Serve as an observer at the Representative Assembly Meeting.

    7.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    8.              Use and maintain working notebook.

    9.              Use and maintain master notebook.

    10.          Make videos as per request of the Leadership class.

    11.          Take pictures and document all ASB activities, events, etc.

    12.          Help promote ASB and the great work they do throughout the year.

    13.          Organize the ASB Drop Newsletter, quarterly.

    14.          Help Update the School Website with ASB events

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Club Commissioner (1)

     

    DEFINITION: The Associated Student Body Club Commissioner is the leadership council’s representative to all clubs offered within the school.  They are the link between the two groups.  They also insure and encourage all clubs to remain active.

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.              Serves as a representative to all clubs and coordinates their activities with the master calendar.

    2.              Responsible for compiling a club roster, which lists all the clubs and their advisors.  This list should be finalized by the second week of October.

    3.              Responsible for club records including their constitutions, minutes of their meetings, and a list of the year’s officers and members.

    4.              Serve as Chairperson of the Inter-Club Council.  The council consists of the President and Vice-President of each club.  The council must meet on a monthly basis.  The purpose is to have greater club participation and increase communication within the school.

    5.              Responsible for making a weekly club report for the Student Council Business Meetings. The purpose of this report is to make council aware of club activities.

    6.              Keep a fundraiser master calendar to ensure that clubs do not overlap in their fundraising efforts.

    7.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    8.              Use and maintain working notebook.

    9.              Use and maintain master notebook.

    10.          Responsible for distributing club registration forms to all existing clubs and collecting them no later than October of the following year.

    11.          Responsible for assisting prospective clubs in the process of becoming a club by making club registration forms readily available.

    12.          Responsible for explaining fundraising rules to club officers.

    13.          Serves as the chairperson for International week.

    Commissioner of School Culture and Diversity (2) (formerly CASL)

     

    DEFINITION: The CASL Commissioner is responsible helping provide students with community service opportunities to fulfill the required 64+ hours of community service in order to graduate.  This may be accomplished by the assistance of the planning, organizing, and completion of service learning functions and events.  CASL Commissioners are also responsible to have ASB involved in as many community service projects as possible throughout the summer and the school year.

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.              Plan community service events for the ASB class to participate in.

    2.              Plan and organize cultural awareness events throughout the year, such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Chinese New Year, Black History Month, Earth Day, Cyber Savvy Week, etc. There is usually an awareness project and or special holiday every month, CASL needs to be aware of all and have a continuous calendar

    3.              Serve as an observer at the Representative Assembly Meeting.

    4.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    5.              Plan International Week

    6.              Use and maintain working notebook.

    7.              Use and maintain master notebook.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Academics Commissioner (1)

     

    DEFINITION: The Academics Commissioner is responsible for conducting grade checks for the ASB members to make sure that their grades are in good standings as well as their citizenship grade. They are also responsible for being the liaison between the Higher Education Center, The Student Recognition Committee and the student body as well as being first in line to assist in student recognition ceremonies.

     

    DUTIES: 

    1.               Conduct ASB grade checks, and make sure all ASB students are eligible to stay in ASB

    2.               Serve as liaison from the Higher Education Center to the student body

    3.               Serve as liaison from the Student Recognition Committee and ASB

    4.               Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

    5.               Be available to help at student recognition assemblies and ceremonies.

    6.               Use and maintain working notebook.

    7.               Use and maintain master notebook.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     Staff Appreciation Commissioner

    To recognize and show staff and student body our appreciation on such things as good deeds, accomplishments, birthdays, performances, etc. The main goal is to keep ASB on good terms with the staff members and appreciate the students: giving them emotional support and creating a welcoming atmosphere.  This student will work together with the Staff Social Committee for any staff recognition.

     

    DUTIES:

    1.              Assisting Student Council as a whole, as needed.

    2.              Chairperson of Stress Free Week.

    3.              Chairperson of Staff Appreciation Week (usually in May).

    4.              Appreciate all new staff members and all staff members that are leaving

    5.              Send out thank you notes to anyone who has helped ASB

    6.              Create a “Welcome to Segerstrom: Survival Guide” over the summer to be ready to give to all new incoming students throughout the school year

    7.              Attend daily leadership class and weekly business meetings.

     

    Qualifications: 

    1.              Maintain a grade point average of a 2.5 for each grading period from time of petitioning for the job until the end of your office.

    2.              Must be an excellent student role model.

    3.              Highly encouraged to have previously participated in leadership activities (example: student government, school clubs, sports teams, youth groups, church groups, community service programs, volunteering in the community, etc.).

     

    Personal Qualities:

    1.              Have good communication, organization, and time management skills.

    2.              Be eager, willing to learn, and open minded.

     

     

     
    Commissioner of Student Store (2)

    These students will be responsible for working with Accounts Clerk to keep the store area neat, organized and stocked throughout the year. The web store needs to be updated at all times and ready to sell. 

     

    Duties:

    1.              Keep the cabinets stocked and organized

    2.              Advertise all items that are on sale throughout the year

    3.              Come up with new items to sell as fundraisers and to raise school spirit

    4.              Help sell items during lunch (possibility of setting up a calendar for all ASB members to help with sales throughout the year, especially during busy times)

    5.              Help accounts clerk, keep web store updated
