CIF Compliance Requirements and District Obligations
-
As a member district of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), SAUSD is required to adhere to CIF bylaws and ethical standards, including the formal obligation to self-report any confirmed rule violations—especially those related to recruitment or athlete eligibility. These requirements ensure fair play, transparency, and accountability across all CIF-sanctioned athletics.
-
Self-Reporting Obligation
Upon discovering a CIF rule violation, a district must notify CIF promptly. Failure to self-report may itself constitute a separate violation. -
Potential Consequences
If violations are not reported, CIF may impose sanctions such as team disqualification, suspension from competition, probationary status for the athletic program, or penalties against staff members. -
Cooperation and Documentation
CIF may request access to investigative materials and supporting documentation. SAUSD is committed to full cooperation, providing all necessary records and evidence. -
Ongoing Accountability
This compliance process underscores our dedication to upholding the integrity of every athletic program and maintaining public trust. We continuously review and strengthen our internal practices to ensure we meet—and exceed—these obligations.
