Mr. Mitcheltree

Hello! My name is Cody Mitcheltree, and I am the physical education teacher for grades 6-8, as well as the Ethnic Studies teacher and athletics coach. I am VERY excited to start my sixth year at ALA! Before joining the ALA team in Santa Ana Unified, I had experience in the San Francisco Unified School District, where I taught both middle and high school physical education, and completed my student teaching training in 7th-grade social science. I am thus dual credentialed in Physical Education and Social Science.

As a physical educator, my goal is for every student to become invested in their physical fitness and health, while also having fun! This is accomplished by exposing students to a variety of activities, knowledge, and sports skills development. Students also practice goal-setting and tracking their progress toward achieving those goals.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me outside cycling, running, hiking, paddleboarding, or walking my dog Winnie. I am also an avid sports fan and love to travel.
